How to Buy the Nintendo Switch 2: Current In-Stock Availability on Consoles and Games

‎The long-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is officially available for purchase in the United States—though actually getting your hands on one is proving to be a challenge. Priced at $450, the console went on sale at midnight ET on June 5, with several major retailers offering it both online and in physical stores. As expected, online inventory quickly sold out and remains scarce as of Thursday afternoon. If you haven’t scored a unit yet, don’t give up—restocks are happening, and we’ve gathered the latest details on where and how to find the new console.

‎Walmart began online sales at launch, including the Mario Kart World bundle, but both are currently sold out. In-store availability remains a possibility, though stock is extremely limited and varies by location. It’s worth checking with nearby stores for any remaining units.
‎GameStop held early launch events on Wednesday and is promoting in-store sales. Reports suggest that some locations, including one in New York City, had dozens of units on hand. However, GameStop’s website is no longer showing availability, and while a $625 bundle (with a microSD card and accessories) lingered slightly longer, it too has sold out.
‎Target began selling the console in stores on June 5 and warned of tight supply. Some locations still have units as of Thursday, and the retailer plans to restock online in the early morning of June 6, while supplies last.
‎Best Buy hosted midnight in-store launches and is limiting sales to brick-and-mortar stores during launch week. Online purchasing is not an option for now.
‎You may have better luck with membership-based retailers like Costco and Sam’s Club. Costco offered a Mario Kart bundle including a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online membership, while Sam’s Club had a different bundle without the subscription. Access to these offers requires a paid membership. BJ’s also briefly had online stock, though it is currently unavailable.
‎Verizon briefly listed the Switch 2 on Thursday, but it was restricted to existing customers and quickly sold out.
‎Amazon is the notable exception among major retailers—it has not listed the console for sale and didn’t open any pre-orders. It’s unclear if or when it will offer the Switch 2.
‎Newegg, meanwhile, has had the device listed on its site for weeks but hasn’t yet opened up orders.
‎Among the options that have been available, the Mario Kart World bundle has been more frequently restocked than the standalone console. While the bundle costs $50 more, it includes Nintendo’s biggest launch title, which retails separately for $80—making it a reasonable value for those still searching.
‎Nintendo’s Invite-Only Sales
‎Nintendo is also distributing the Switch 2 directly through an invite-only system. To qualify, you must have been a Nintendo Switch Online subscriber for at least one year and have logged 50+ hours of gameplay on the original Switch before April 2. Although eligible users can still register, invites have been slow to arrive, and many who signed up back in April are still waiting. Even some invitees have yet to receive shipping notifications.

‎Where to Buy Nintendo Switch 2 Games and Accessories
‎Unsurprisingly, Nintendo has released a range of new first-party accessories to accompany the Switch 2, most of which launched on June 5, the same day as the console. The same applies to flagship games like Mario Kart World and the updated Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One major upcoming title, Donkey Kong Bananza, is slated for release in mid-July, but it—and other unreleased games—can already be pre-ordered so you’ll have them as soon as they hit shelves.
‎As of Thursday morning, nearly all Switch 2 games are still widely available. Availability for the accessories is a bit more inconsistent, though many items are still in stock at select retailers. It's worth noting that purchases of Nintendo-branded accessories may require an invite, similar to the company's direct sales for the console itself.
