Players can dive into the action today — a Nioh 3 demo is now available on PS5, giving fans early access to its dark Sengoku-era setting and fierce combat. The demo runs through June 18, offering a limited-time glimpse into the game’s revamped mechanics and new world design.
New Fighting Styles and Open Field Exploration
Nioh 3 introduces a dual combat system, letting players fluidly switch between Samurai and Ninja fighting styles. The Samurai stance focuses on traditional melee combat, staying true to the series' roots, while the Ninja style emphasizes agility, dodging, and aerial maneuvers. This system allows for dynamic strategy and greater versatility during battles.
A major evolution for the franchise is the introduction of an “open field” world, which brings a new level of freedom and exploration. According to Team Ninja head Fumihiko Yasuda, players will traverse ominous landscapes, investigate haunted villages, and face relentless yokai in the ominous Crucible — a challenge arena that tests skill and survival.
Building on a Beloved Legacy
Following the success of Nioh (2017) and Nioh 2 (2020), the third installment raises the bar with next-gen visuals, deeper combat systems, and a darker, more immersive setting. Longtime fans will recognize the signature tension, unforgiving difficulty, and mythological foes that have defined the series — now enhanced for a new era.
Whether you're a seasoned warrior or new to the franchise, Nioh 3 promises a punishing but rewarding journey through the shadows of feudal Japan.
